MKR Summary 2014

The Kandahar and Muerren are more than the weather!

Muerren Kandhar Races 2014 was a great week in spite of not being able to stick with our original calendar of events! UK press joined us despite the lack of snow, as did a handful of families, individuals, and 20 children with their coaches from the British Ski Academy in Les Houches. Our team got creative and organized activities every day on the fly. Mark Berry and Martin Schurmann hatched the idea of providing a Bond experience for our guests. ..and that is what we gave them!

It takes a village.

We pulled together to make the week great fun. Muerren Ski School, Muerren Tourism, The Schilthornbahn, All Stars and the Kandahar Ski Club delivered a wide range of activities including; skiing at Kleine Scheidegg, crossing the Via Ferratta Bridge, paragliding, breakfast at the Schilthorn followed by skiing and boarding, telemark lessons and fabulous meals at various restaurants.

Snowball fight on the Allmenhubel.

The Bondies were super kind to welcome the 20 children from the British Ski Academy in Les Houches with a sledge ride from the Allmenhubel to the village. A spontaneous outbreak of flying snowballs added to the fun. Some children were not sure if they were Swiss, British or neutral!

Party from noon until night!
Our Mountain Celebration at the Sonnenberg followed by a party at the Taschi bar was a blast! Music provided by Home of Perfect and Sam Spiegel was enjoyed by all. We were thrilled by the aerial presentation by Patrick Pearson. Both locations were highly attended.

Happy Faces.
Press from the Daily Mail, GQ, The Telegraph and the Financial Times all left Murren smiling and all said that they would come again.

Our on the ground, Swiss/British team included, Martin Schurmann, Adrian Pery, Colin Stone, Tom Durrer, Bernard Lunn, Ernie Gerber, Werner Gerber and Karleen Jeffreys. They made it all happen!

Muerren Kandahar Races is deeply proud to receive incredible support from so many individuals and organizations. Please see the attached list.

All the best-

Julia, Kurt, Alan and Mark

Downhill, downhill this is the racer’s song. In powder or crust downhill we must!
